One Main Development was named “Distinguished Citizen Advocate”, an award given by the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The “Distinguished Citizen Advocate” award was new this year, and was given to organizations whose efforts have resulted in a significant and positive improvement to the architectural profession and/or the built environment.
Specifically, the award recognized achievements in four categories:
1. service and contribution to the AIA Central Illinois Chapter,
2. leadership in civic improvement, governmental projects, conservation and urban renewal,
3. contributions to the advancement of the understanding of architecture through the support of education and training programs, and
4. contributions to the built environment through the design, fabrication, or installation of works of art and high craftsmanship in the context of architecture, urban design projects, and built landscapes.
“I think this new award says just as much about our local architects and their commitment to our communities as it does about our firm,” says Jon “Cody” Sokolski, CEO of One Main Development. “They really took the time to look outside their own membership and honor the work we are doing out in the community. We hope that our leadership in enhancing this region’s urban environments can serve as an inspiration to architects and citizens alike, and we are proud to be honored with this unique distinction.”
The award was presented on November 10 at the AIA Central Illinois Chapter Annual Awards Dinner. Service Awards were given to individuals and firms in the Central Illinois Chapter in recognition of their significant contributions to the collective reputation of Architecture through excellent service to the profession, education, and the community.
